Development Academy of the Bangsamoro Enhances Capacity with Executive Coaching and Mentoring on Budgeting and Planning

Davao City – The Development Academy of the Bangsamoro (DAB) recently concluded a five-day intensive training program on “Executive Coaching and Mentoring on Budgeting and Planning” held at Acacia Hotel in Davao City on February 19 -23, 2024. The initiative aimed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge necessary for effective budgeting, planning, and financial management in preparation for the upcoming fiscal year 2025.

The training program was deemed critical for the DAB as it gears up for the identification of Priority Programs, Projects and Activities (PPAs), activity proposals, preparation of works and financial plans, budget execution documents, and orientation on the budget cycle for the forthcoming fiscal period, through this program it will enhance the capacity of its staff in budgeting and planning processes, the DAB seeks to ensure efficient allocation and utilization of resources towards the attainment of its developmental goals.

Dr. Normia A. Salindal, the Division Chief of Finance and Administrative Division of the Academy, graced the activity and expressed her enthusiasm for the program. She highlighted the importance of honing skills in budgeting and planning, emphasizing their pivotal role in driving organizational success and sustainability.

“The knowledge and expertise gained from this training will greatly contribute to our ability to strategically allocate resources, prioritize initiatives, and achieve our developmental objectives,” Dr. Salindal remarked.

Resource Speaker Ivan Lo Castillon, Chief of Planning Division of the Technical Management Service of the Office of the Chief Minister and who led the sessions, expressed his satisfaction with the collaborative effort and eagerness of the participants to learn. He praised their proactive engagement and noted their receptiveness to the discussions, which facilitated a conducive learning environment.

The training also delved into the crucial aspect of aligning programs and projects with regional priorities. Discussions emphasized the significance of harmonizing initiatives with the Bangsamoro 12-point Priority Agenda, 2nd Bangsamoro Development Plan, DAB Strategic Objectives, and DAB mandates. Ensuring alignment with these frameworks is essential for maximizing the impact of developmental efforts and advancing the socio-economic welfare of the Bangsamoro region.

The Executive Coaching and Mentoring on Budgeting and Planning program has equipped the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro with the necessary tools and insights to navigate the complexities of budgetary processes effectively. With a strengthened capacity in budgeting and planning, the DAB is well-positioned to drive sustainable development and prosperity not only within their office but also in the Bangsamoro region.
