In an effort to propagate more Islamic knowledge during the holy month of Ramadhan, the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro held its second and third series of Ramadhan Symposium on March 20 and March 27, 2024 at the DAB conference room. The invited resources speakers were Shiekh Marhan Borhan and Shiekh Arsad Abdulrahman, respectively.
Shiek Marhan Borhan, provided practical insights on responsible fasting during Ramadhan which exemplified a spiritual cleansing process. He emphasized that beyond the abstinence from food and drink, Ramadhan purifies the soul, cultivates self-control, and deepens our connection to Allah.
On the other hand, Shiek Arsad Abdulrahman explored the connection and relevance of moral governance to the holy month of Ramadhan. He discussed thoroughly the ten elements of Moral Governance in relation to Ramadhan. Shiekh Abdulrahman stressed that fasting is an obligatory for everyone, regardless of wealth or social status. He highlighted how Ramadhan teaches us justice and equality. He emphasized the importance of having a sincere intention and making a conscious effort to observe the fast and how Ramadhan can shape positively both individual character and societal integrity.
To sum it up, these symposia captured the essence of Ramadhan beyond its dietary rules. They highlighted the importance of being mindful, respectful, and sincere during fasting, showing how it can lead to personal development and societal integrity. Thus, it is essential to understand that breaking the fast is not just about eating—it is a deep spiritual voyage towards self-control and moral greatness.
