Development Academy of the Bangsamoro Holds Successful GAD Planning and Budgeting Orientation in Davao del Norte

In a significant stride towards gender-inclusive development, the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro (DAB) recently concluded a week-long “Orientation on GAD (Gender and Development) Planning and Budgeting” at Brgy. Limao, Island Garden City of Samal, Davao del Norte. The program, held from January 22 to 26, 2024, aimed to enhance the capabilities of the employees and staff in the Finance and Administrative Division (FAD).

The event kicked off with an insightful overview of the importance of GAD in fostering inclusive development. DAB employees, alongside seasoned resource speakers, shared their knowledge on gender-responsive planning and budgeting, emphasizing the need for mainstreaming GAD in local policies and programs.

The Development Academy of Bangsamoro organized an orientation to emphasize the integration of gender perspectives in planning and budgeting, promoting equality and inclusivity.

Participants engaged in a series of interactive sessions, workshops, and discussions led by Ms. Raiza Cayoga-Mocsin GAD Technical Adviser NGRP in gender and development. The agenda covered a wide array of topics, ranging from understanding the principles of Gender and Development to practical applications in the planning and budgeting phases of the academy.

The participants delved into the intricacies of GAD, exploring its role in promoting equal opportunities and addressing the diverse needs of different genders. The orientation equipped them with the necessary tools and knowledge to mainstream gender considerations in their day-to-day administrative and financial responsibilities.

The activity was graced by Dr. Normia A. Salindal, Finance and Administrative Division Chief, who expressed her enthusiasm about the program, stating, “This orientation will educate us to the significance of considering gender perspectives in our work. This will empower us in the Finance and Administrative Division with the knowledge to integrate Gender and Development (GAD) principles into our daily responsibilities.”

The commitment of the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro to GAD is aligned with broader national and international efforts to ensure that development initiatives benefit everyone, regardless of gender. As the participants return to their roles in their workplace, the academy anticipates a positive ripple effect in how they approach their responsibilities.
