SPDB Graduates complete the top-up course on Food Security-through Social Enterprise

COTABATO CITY- To create livelihood opportunities towards a sustainable community in the Bangsamoro, 42 SPDB graduates completed the 3-Day course on Food Security through Social Enterprise under the School of Peace and Democracy Development on Climate, Peace, and Security, held on November 07-09, 2023 at Davao City.
 
Mr. Anwar A. Alamada, MPA, the Executive Director of the Peace, Security, and Reconciliation Office (PSRO), as he graced the said event, emphasized that “Food Security through Social Enterprise Course is part of the BARMM government’s stepped-up efforts to shape the earning capacity of the marginalized transitioning combatants by offering them more sustainable livelihood options.”
 
The program comprised two sub-courses, specifically, Coffee Production and Water Hyacinth Production Courses, which were conducted simultaneously. The Coffee production for 28 participants was facilitated by the Coffee for Peace training team while The Moropreneur Inc. delivered an approach to handcrafts making from Water Hyacinth as raw material. The 14 participants of this course have beamed with pride as they showcased the product outputs of their learning.
 
Ms. Noraida A. Datumanong, DAB-Chief Education Program Specialist, conveyed to the participants an insights on Social Enterprise and its impact on food security in the post-conflict community. She also facilitated Individual Action Planning to ensure that participants applied the skills they learned during the course implementation and that their vision of sustainable livelihood turned into reality.
The Program was implemented by the Peace, Security, and Reconciliation Office (PSRO) with the technical assistance of the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro led by the Center of Education and Extension supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and founded through assistance from the Australian Embassy in the Philippines.
