DAB Sharpens the Facilitation Skills of MTIT – RAPID GROWTH Project Staff

The Development Academy of the Bangsamoro (DAB) and the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism teamed up recently to conduct Facilitation Skills Training for Grassroots Impact on May 9-10, 2024 at Pagana Kutawato Restaurant, Rosary Heights 10, Cotabato City. The participants to this training are the project staff of RAPID GROWTH Project who serve as community facilitators. They requested this training because it has been raised that one of the issues and concerns of the project implementation is the lack of skills and knowledge of project staff in facilitation.

Effective facilitation is crucial in community engagement and development. Facilitator plays a vital role in mobilizing resources, educating community members, and fostering a collaborative environment for sustainable development. The challenge is the grassroots setting where limited resources and cultural sensitivities are of great concern, and require facilitators to possess a robust set of skills tailored to these contexts.

Having identified the need and contextual demand, the DAB training team invited Mr. Selahuddin Yu Hashim of The Moropreneur, Inc. (TMI) to serve as the subject matter expert of the training. With his extensive experience in community development and facilitation, he brought invaluable insights to the workshops that guided participants through various aspects of effective facilitation. The workshops focused on empowering participants to become competent facilitators capable of handling diverse groups, addressing challenges in real-time, and collecting data through effective facilitation techniques.

The training served as a milestone in empowering participants with essential competencies in facilitation. Participants expressed their delight in acquiring the tools and confidence needed to skillfully engage stakeholders, facilitate meetings and workshops, and drive collaborative processes within their communities. As a result, the training on facilitation skills stands as a testament to the power of collaboration, education, and empowerment in building stronger and more resilient communities.
